Cacao tour

The cacao tour is the heart of the Cacaobetulia experience and the best way to understand what makes this farm special. Over two hours, a guide from the house walks you through the criollo cacao grove, among the finest and rarest in the world, within the 105-hectare estate.

You will see the tree and its fruit at different stages of ripeness, learn how the pods are harvested and opened, and get a close look at fermentation and sun-drying. The tour ends with a tasting of cacao in its various stages, from the fresh, sweet fruit to hot chocolate served in the cup.

Chocolate workshops

chocolate de mesa

Traditional table chocolate workshop

$60,000 COP p/p · 2 hours

Table chocolate is part of everyday life in Antioquia: the thick, aromatic drink that accompanies mornings and evenings in the countryside. In this workshop you learn to make it from the bean, roasting and grinding the farm's cacao, the aroma filling the kitchen, and filling the moulds of traditional chocolate.

A hands-on, welcoming activity for all ages, led by people from the farm who grew up with this tradition. Each participant takes home the chocolate they made.

barras y figuras de chocolate

Creative chocolate workshop

$90,000 COP p/p · 2 hours

For those who want to go beyond traditional chocolate: tempering for shine and texture, working with moulds, and decorating bars and figures. Made with chocolate from the farm's own criollo porcelana cacao.

Each piece is decorated with different toppings, from nuts to much more, and everyone takes their creations home packed. It works beautifully as a couple, as a family, or alongside the tour.

The horses are gentle and slow-paced, always accompanied by farm staff. No previous experience needed, only the wish to see the landscape from a different height.

Trails, reserve, and birds

Almost half the farm, 50 of its 105 hectares, is natural reserve. The trails let you walk through native forest, cross points of total silence, and meet the local wildlife face to face.

Surveys with ornithologists have recorded more than 100 resident species, not counting migratory ones, among them several species of toucans, macaws, and hawks. The house lends binoculars to anyone who wants to rise early and see them.

Pool, gym, and rest

The pool is surrounded by greenery and open to the mountain view, and serves both purposes: for rest, floating a while, reading at the water's edge, and for training, thanks to its counter-current swim motor, which lets you swim continuously as in a competition pool.

Anyone keeping up a routine will also find a small gym with weights. Around it, cool terraces, hammocks, and shaded corners invite reading, napping, and long conversation.

Without staying over

Day pass

Includes breakfast or afternoon snack, lunch, the cacao tour, and use of the whole farm: pool, rest areas, trails, and landscapes.

Basic day pass

Taoist temple
For retreats and groups

The Taoist temple

The temple is the most singular space at Cacaobetulia and the heart of its retreat offering. Surrounded by the eight cabins named after the elements, it offers a wide, cool, silent room, a silence broken only by birds, for meditation, yoga, ceremony, and group work.

No affiliation with any practice is required: it is an open space that welcomes different contemplative disciplines with equal respect.

  • Retreats of 10+ guests: temple use included
  • Smaller groups: per person/day rate or flat rate per retreat
